How to use ITR Form Finder
Answer a few questions to identify a likely return form and the official next step.
Inputs and definitions
Income period, verified ROR/RNOR/NR status, sources of income, business facts, assets and exclusions asked in the form.
Method and formula
The finder applies the supported notified-form eligibility questions in sequence, including restrictions for RNOR/NR and foreign income or assets. Unknown or excluded facts remain review flags. The finder does not determine residential status.
Illustrative example
A person with business income must review the business-return questions; selecting only salary facts can produce an unsuitable form suggestion. No return is filed by this finder.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Before you use the result.
Does the suggested ITR form confirm I can file it?
It is a guided suggestion from the facts supplied. Check the notified form and instructions for the selected assessment year, all exclusions and your complete income and asset profile before filing.
Why do foreign assets or business income matter?
Simplified forms have specific exclusions. Foreign assets, residence status, business activity and certain gains can change the eligible form even when the income amount seems small.
Does this tool submit my return?
No. It identifies a supported route and official next steps. Filing, verification and submission happen through the authorised filing process.
Read these answers with the selected period, calculation scope and official sources below.
Scope and limitations
Choose ROR, RNOR or NR and the complete income and asset facts. The result uses the forms notified for the selected period; it does not determine residency or file the return. Cases outside the supported form rules are explained explicitly.
These examples explain the method. The interactive result depends on the selected facts and period, and is not a filing or an eligibility confirmation.
