A NOTE FROM KUSH

From my desk

Before I look at an answer, I want to understand the question behind it. In a tax calculation, a missing period or an untested assumption can matter as much as the final number. My suggestion: write down what you know, mark what needs checking, and change one assumption at a time. A useful calculation should make the next question clearer.

TOOL OF THE WEEK

Advance Tax Calculator

Put an estimated annual liability, eligible credits and earlier payments together. Read each instalment as a cumulative target, with the relevant schedule and exceptions in view.

A curated pick to explore.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Should I add the advance-tax instalment percentages together?

No. On the regular schedule, the targets are cumulative. Earlier advance-tax payments count towards the next target; adding the percentages or the displayed shortfalls would double-count them. First check which schedule and exceptions apply to you.

TAX / GST RADAR

GST: reconcile before you file.

The GSTR-3B guide connects the return, available credit and payment steps. Start with your filing period, compare the relevant records and review the portal figures before submission. A suggested figure still needs your review.

THE PROFESSIONAL PERSPECTIVE

Explore experience & technical exposure ↗

My work spans financial reporting, treasury, planning, accounting operations and finance technology. The connecting thread is a careful approach to evidence: trace the number, understand its context and explain what it means.

This website brings that approach to educational blogs and tools. I am an ICAI member without a Certificate of Practice; the website does not offer public-practice engagements.
